                                                                    Back to Home

We are Meryl and Ian Boothby and have lived at "Meadow View" for 37 years. "Meadow View" is a fully working sheep, cattle and cereal cropping farm, 18 km from Tottenham, 7 km from Albert, 125 km from Dubbo and 145 km from Parkes and Forbes

We started off with a small farm, 1500 acres and the family next door decided that they would head for the city. We bought part of their property and then in 1989 My (Meryl's) parents decided that they would like to sell their property and we bought it from them. We now have 6000 acres, about 1500 sheep and 200 cattle. We farm about 1000-1200 acres of cereal crop - wheat oats and barley. The oats are grown for stock feed, barley for a cash crop and stock feed, and the wheat is grown for a cash crop and delivered to the silo in town.

We work the farm on our own and employ contractors when we need help, eg fencing, lamb marking, sheep dipping and harvesting. It is quite a big job for Ian to do on his own and I have a small business, doing bookkeeping, that keeps me pretty busy for one month every quarter. I am also an avid quilter and run workshops at our farmstay. I have a website selling patchwork fabrics and have a small shop on our property - ready for when quilters come to stay. We have two children but they work in the city and don't get home to help very often these days.

We love having visitors come to stay. Ian loves showing people around the farm and explaining all about the farming industry. I just love chatting and showing people the true, friendly hospitality that country people are renowned for.

I enjoy the delight on small children's faces when they collect an egg and feed a goat or a duck; the excitement when somebody catches a yabby and also the excitement when a bird watcher or photographer sees a brolga dancing, a pelican floating or the black cockatoo sitting in the belah tree at the house chomping away at the acorns.

We can pamper you by providing all meals for you, prepared in your accommodation and we all eat together and chat - or you can cook for yourself at your own leisure.

We would love to see you at "Meadow View"
